The Department is under the Taiwan High Prosecutor's Office. Its main task is to pursue crimes and direct the execution of criminal judgments while maintaining public order and ensuring the safety of people's lives, freedom, and property. The Department has one Chief Prosecutor and many Head Prosecutors, Prosecutors, and Forensic Medical Examiners (Inspectors). It has a Secretariat, a Prosecutor's Office, and Offices for Probation, HR, Accounting, Statistics, Ethics, information Management, etc. There are seven sections under the Secretariat: records, execution, documentation, research and assessment, general services, litigation counseling and data, and the judicial police office.
